India's premier Oceanography Lab goes for DHI MIKE Software.
The National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) in India, a constituent Laboratory of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), has chosen MIKE 21 as modeling tool for use in coastal planning studies. One of the first applications is to look at the effect of different measures for pollution control to improve the water quality in a local tidal estuary. The estuary is characterised by having a very high salinity due to a low supply of freshwater combined with high evaporation. "We have chosen the MIKE 21 model due to its user-friendliness and the integrated platform for the hydrodynamic engine and process modules makes it very efficient", says scientist Dr Vethamony.
NIO (www.nio.org) was founded in 1966 and conducts basic and applied research on various aspects of ocean science and has, in recent years, increased its services to coastal industries. NIO has its headquarters in Dona Paula, Goa and has a total of 600 employees, more than 200 of whom are scientists.
We are very pleased to welcome NIO among our customers and look forward to the co-operation.
