First workshop on phytoplankton pigment analysis

07 May 2010

The first workshop on phytoplankton pigment analysis is to be held in Denmark this coming winter. ‘DHI has for years been one of the pioneers within phytoplankton pigment analysis and we are therefore delighted that so many participants from all over the world have signed up. Our intention is that that the workshop will act as forum for exchanging ideas and experience. With participants from Australia, USA and a number of European countries the workshop is bound to be interesting’ says Dr. Louise Schlüter, DHI.

Worldwide around 200 laboratories work with phytoplankton pigment analysis. Hence it is a niche area but also an area which is attracting more and more attention. The objective with the workshop is to discuss the many aspects of pigment analysis, when studying biomass and the composition of phytoplankton. The workshop will be an informal 2-day meeting taking place 28.-29. October 2010 at DHI’s headquarters just north of Copenhagen. State-of-the-art methods will be presented and participants are encouraged to present their own challenges and experiences.
